A few months ago, Todd and I were lucky enough to get invited to spend a day at HP/Labs in Palo Alto. During that day we were exposed to a LOT of cool stuff, and out of that experience we formed a joint initiative with HP Labs to get some of that tech out of the Lab and in front of the people.
Our first venture, the Awards Meter App launched today. It is perfect for your iPad (but works on your phone and PC) as you follow the run up to the Oscars and take in the event on Sunday night on your sofa. The App is a joint project between Organic (idea, interface design and front end dev) and HP Labs (amazing back-end computing power and analysis). It will allow you to track in real-time who we all think should actually be winning at the Oscars, by analyzing the social stream. We will be taking the sentiment generated in all Tweets about the Oscars and the nominees, and feeding it back live into a simple, at-a-glance data visualization. In real-time you will be able to see the populist vote, making it essentially the peoples’ Oscars.
Check it out and see how your own vote is trending against what the social stream thinks.
