As we gear up for the holidays Organic San Francisco gave back to our community before enjoying in our annual holiday celebration by volunteering at the San Francisco Food Bank. The San Francisco Food Bank helps make sure more than 200,000 people— families struggling under the weight of the economic environment, the elderly, people suffering from illness and our neighbors across the city— have food on the table. With the help of volunteers the SF Food Bank moves over 400 tons of food through the warehouse every week and distributes 4.15 million pounds of food a year.

After spending a few hours at the SF Food Bank Organics’ helped sort and box over 14,000 pounds of apples and bagged over 3,000 pounds of rice. The day was not only a rewarding one but it was a great opportunity to bond with each other outside our cubicles. With just a couple of hours worth of work, we directly helped more than one hundred families put food on otherwise empty tables in one day.

To cap the night off we shared in holiday drinks and hor dor ourevs at the Museum of the African Diaspora!
