It started with Michael Hughes Souvenir project on Flickr, a photo gallery of cheesy tourist souvenirs superimposed on the real life objects they represent (ie Statue of Liberty toy held up over the real Statue of Liberty). Jason Powell decided to take a more crowdsourced approach when he started Looking Into The Past, a Flickr pool that combines old photos of locations and buildings with the present day version.
As with many crowdsource projects, the techniques and quality vary greatly. So, Ed Husinger from LaughingSquid.com compiled the best of the bunch into an inspiring Flickr photo gallery.
