Calling all music lovers - checkout the new Grammys site. It's a seamless integration with social media, also. I think they did a nice job.

It's really difficult to keep up with what's going on here. I'm not sure anyone would spend much time here. Yes, you can aggregate this stuff. but you have to answer, "Why?"
It reminds me as well of the CP/B site - and the Threeminds post Marta and I wrote last year.

Where do you stand on things that appear 'social-for-social-sake'?

People may think that the Grammys going social with their website is foolish or that there is no reason for it...but I wholeheartedly disagree.
Right now, the site may not seem to be very useful but it will be on the night of the Grammys. Keeping music fans, music lovers, musicians & artists all connected to each other - especially on the night of the Grammys - allows the Grammys to capture information on how exactly fans feel about the awards, the performances, etc. which is important in creating future Grammys shows to be as compelling as possible to continue to have viewers. On the front end, fans and artists alike can connect with each other, trend a myriad of topics and acknowledge the further integration of the digital space with the music industry.
Asking "why?" when the event has not occurred yet is a bit presumptuous and is missing out on the potential for the possible captured data AND the human connection that can occur from The Grammys opening itself up on such a social level. Besides, people said "why?" and "so what?" when the iPod came out and when the dot.com industry was created -- look what happened there, lol.
