Need some entertainment for the New Year? Here are a couple of interesting social networking/ social media sites.
Wallop is another invitation-only challenger to MySpace - very interesting visual representations of the relationships between you, your friends, and your common interests.
Imeem is a well-designed social media site that adds Digg functionality to blogs, music, video, playlists, and social styles (thanks Kelley).
They are both a little hard to get your head around. Let me know your thoughts.

Wallop is interesting and I like allot of what they have in the site; for example they have absolutely pushed the user experience and the open Flash Developer Network is something I could see using.
However, with that said there are a few things that are a hassle -- like login. Perhaps I'm missing something but every time I return the site I'm prompted to enter my password instead of having an auto login system. Again, I might have missed a check box somewhere but I don't seam to have the same problem with say flickr.
Also, as much as it breaks my heart the use of Flash on the site is both amazing and sort of a work in progress. Some of the performance issues i see could being cleared up with Flash 9 and AS3.
As a totally side note I wonder if because Wallop is owned by Microsoft if they will ditch Flash for the Vista Presentation Layer (or whatever it's being called now).
In any case, for a site less than 6 months old I have to say the team has done brilliant job.

Mason thanks for the compliments. We are fixing your issue in this release on autologin as well as improving performance. I do think AS3 will help but we believe we can get substantially better performance out our current beta on AS2

Also new and exciting Virb.com
It'll be interesting to see how these new sites take on and/or change the current landscape.
