The Year In Ideas

Nytideas_1 Two weeks ago the New York Times Magazine released its 6th Annual Year in Ideas Issue.   It features 74 examples of innovation that reaches across all disciplines and cultures to give a fascinating view into the current state of human thinking.

As the intro states, “Our editors and writers have located the peaks and valleys of ingenuity — the human cognitive faculty deployed with intentions good and bad, purposes serious and silly, consequences momentous and morbid.  The resulting intellectual mountain range extends across a wide territory.”

From Beer Gut Flasks to Energy Harvesting Floors, there’s something in here for everyone.

Of particular interest for those if us in the digital marketing business, check out Jujitsu Advertising and Digital Maoism.

In our drive to do innovative work for our clients, it’s important to see what innovation looks like and the processes by which it is achieved.  Some of these are big ideas and some are small, some are developed based on specific needs while other are come upon while looking at patterns, data or behaviors in our daily lives. Inspiring stuff.
