Walmart has taken considerable heat for hiding the corporate roots of Walmarting Across America, a puff piece masquerading as an amateur blog. There's an even a word for it these days- the flog, defined by wikipedia as "a fake blog typically used as a sales tool".
Nissan's effort, 7 Days in a Sentra, is in its own category. Nissan hired comedian Marc Horowitz to live in a Sentra for seven days, and blog about it. It's very clear that this is a purely commercial effort, so it's not a flog. The content is akin to what you would find on a microsite- music downloads, video clips. Despite the premise, it's not very blog-like. Very little personal commentary, little spontaneity or humor. It's really not very good. But it's the first branded entertainment blog I have seen, and it's a start.

I have actually known people in my life who at one time or another have lived out of cars. I imagine living out of a car is not exactly a pleasant experience, and if I had to live in one, a brand new subcompact import probably would not be my first choice.
My introduction to this campaign was not through the "Internets" but by way of a billboard at the corner of West 33rd St. and 9th Ave. in Manhattan.

I can only imagine what actual homeless people (more than a few live in this area) think when they see this.
