Apple's Integrated Advertising

Ipodnano04_20060912 The new banner ad for the Ipod Nano is a great example of integrated advertising.  If you haven’t seen the TV Spot check it out here.

Essentially the rich media banner allows you to recreate the TV spot within the ad.  The banner is a simple black background, the mouse arrow becomes an Ipod Nano, and you can scroll around the ad leaving a trail of color.  Simple, easy, fun.  One mistake made is the lack of music in the ad.

Most of people just hate unwanted sounds in websites, so I don't see the lack of music/sound as an error... let's see it as a form of respect for the visitor.

I had the same reaction you did - at first. But the banner ad really ads nothing to the TV ad, squandering the opportunity to deepen the message with interactivity. But in the end its just a shallow (and obvious) ad unit. Doesn't even really give a good call to action to get the viewer on to the Apple site.
