Flying High Down Under

MelbourneFor compulsive planners, the
web is undoubtedly one of the most useful tools for travel. On
a
recent trip to Seattle, I found
that
airport web sites should be added to
my
personal list of trip planning resources.

Randy Johnson wrote a small
piece on the airport sites in United’s Hemisphere Magazine, noting:

"the best sites smooth the transition from
‘getting there’ to ‘being there …no more standing around scrutinizing the
signs.”

Our very own SFO’s site seems
pretty flat in contrast to Melbourne’s site which is quite
exceptional.

It depicts interactive terminal layouts and tours, helps you find the cheapest parking options, and you can watch in
real-time a world map of departing/arriving flights.

On my next trip to Melbourne,I’ll
be sure to give a shout out to local friends to meet at Bluebag for some ‘feel
good food’ and a ‘cup of coffee’.  Bluebag is located in between T1 and T2 on the
Departures level.  Bluebag coffee is ‘bad
to the bean’: the best renegade coffee in town.
