LeeAnn Prescott (a la Hitwise.com) posts a nice blog on the
current market share of Photo Sharing Sites. Although Flickr appears to
get a lot of buzz, they show up as 6th on this list. The blog also
indicates that MySpace.com is one of the major sources of the top photo
sharing sites' traffic - which shows how dependent collaborative these
sites can get.
The top sites, I think, allow more photo/image hosting solutions that can be externally
referenced - without much community on their core sites, whereas Flickr has
created their own community as part of their photo sharing
functionality.
