An Israeli startup called Mantis has just released a new mobile application they’re calling Zlango. Zlango is a lightweight mobile Java app that allows people to use symbols in the form of icons to communicate... think texting with icons.
The symbols have predefined meanings such as “love” for heart or “hello” for a hand, that can be combined to make sentences – in effect creating its own language.
The brilliance of the application is that it allows two people who only speak English and German respectively to communicate without barriers. Using only a few icons you can create a complex sentence much faster than it would take you to type out an SMS message. Whether or not the service will become popular still remains to be seen, however interest has been piqued.

Thanks for your Zlango post. Please note that the name of the company, language and product are all Zlango [lingo, slang & language stirred together with a Z on top as homage to Esperanto inventor Zamenhof].
Mantis is the name of the Zlango web-site developers.
