Today Google launched a limited test of Google Spreadsheets, a web-based spreadsheet application. It's yet another piece in the growing arsenal of applications that the company is developing to take on Microsoft's dominance on the desktop.
Like Writely, Google's answer to Word, Google Spreadsheets grew out of an acquistion (Upstartle and 2Web Technologies, respectively) and focuses of making document colloboration easy for the home user.
