Search in a Snap

Snap
Diehard Google fan?  Willing to try something different?  Pop over to Snap.com and try the latest search entry from the guy who created the ad model behind Google – Bill Gross at idealab!   Snap.com launched earlier this month.  I used Snap.com for all my searches today and found it to be exceptional.  What’s great about it?  Start typing your search term and suggestions appear.  Click on a term and links appear on the left of the page as they do in most search engines plus you can see an image of the site in a preview pane on the right.  If you want to study the image more closely, size it up with a single click.  If you find what you are searching for, open the site in a new window, click around, and if you need to, simply return to first window to look at other results.  I haven’t really tested the quality of search results with any real rigor (although I easily found what I was searching for) but the interface is truly exceptional. Read more about it on Howard Morgan’s blog  http://waytooearly.firstround.com/.

Heya, thanks so much for the post on our site. We dig good UI and we dig threeminds, its a great blog!
OK, not to be an advertising pitch or plug but this is a pretty cool side project we have.
Snap is also hosting a blog and contest to submit a Launch Idea for our upcoming media campaign. Using a Digg style voting system, users can submit ideas and vote on others. As incentive, we are offering up $5k for the highest voted Idea and another $5k for the referring blog.
