Command -line Raconteurs

Raconteurs_1The Raconteurs are Jack White’s new side project band.

Their website http://www.theraconteurs.com is modeled after
the simple command-line interfaces of MS-DOS and the Apple IIe from the
early 1980s. This metaphor is even carried through to the slight
flicker in the photos section and the grainy and blurry music video.
This utter simplicity says much about the aesthetics and philosophy of
the band, and makes the content very accessible. There is no gloss or
pretension, no barrier between the user/fan and the content.

    Roger,
Perhaps you’re too young to remember the command line for DOS. It looked like this:
    C:\>
The Raconteurs site is modeled after a program that might run on a DOS, or other, computer of that era. Like this:
    C:\racont>racont
If you’re on a Windows machine right now, you can relive the olden days, by choosing “Run” from the “Start” menu, and then type “Command” (without the quotes). Then, to finish the experience hold down the “Alt” key and hit “Enter”.
Note: To really relive the olden days, don’t cheat and use cmd instead of command.
