Netvibes has added tabs and I could not be happier. It’s one of handful of web-based tools that I use everyday and it keeps getting better. A couple of years back we would build portals for millions of dollars with half the utility and flexibilty that Netvibes delivers for free in 5 mintues flat (enabled by and army of syndicators, admittedly). Try it. It’s worth you time.

What would this mean? I didnt get it…You can view all your feeds (say 20) as 20 tabs??
apologize for the sunday aft stream of consciousness. netvibes lets you manage any number of feeds in a drag and drop manner from within a browser window. they’ve just enhanced their product so you can have multiple netvibe tabs within your browser window. i have tabs for topic areas, tools and photos.
but dont take my word for it. check it out mang.
Been using NetVibes in addition to a personalized Google page and a host of other solutions (Attensa, Firefox’s live bookmarks, etc.). As the finicky IA and power user that I am, my biggest complaint has been the inability to organize/categorize my volume of feeds except to use folders with live bookmarks. But with the introduction of tabs in NetVibes, I don’t have to skimp on feeds and can easily switch between each tab – all chock-full of feed goodness. It’s like I have 7 different personalized Google pages. Yay.
I used Netvibes for a while, then I tried Pageflakes and really liked the multiple tabs. However, Netvibes is superior in the way it handles links, browsing articles, etc. Now that it has tabs, I’ll probably switch back.
What caught my eye is that you have the same greeting I do at the top of your Netvibes page (except mine is one word “Mr. Bigstuff”). Too funny. You can’t do that with Pageflakes.
I love this new feature as well. Netvibes is reminding me more and more of a personalized newspaper. I have tabs named Dashboard, News, Culture, Tech, People, Social Networking, Music, Politics, etc., and it helps to buffer my feed downloading at home with a nice proxy server.
What I wonder is, what is the netvibes business model? How are they making any money with this site?
the model is to be acquired of course.
they will probably move to a free/premium version at some point. i would not be surprised to see select branded content embedded or key words. they could license the technology to companies.
