Luke Wroblewski has a great primer post about the next generation of consumers (generation Y, millennials, echo boomers, Net gen).
I think the recent rise of YouTube, MySpace, and podcasts simply validates this generation’s voracious appetite for discovery, content and the need to create content. As a creative, I love this quote: “More than half of online teens have created content for the Internet.”
Our industry’s trend towards more interactive and immersive experiences is definitely the right way to reach this audience who has grown up with 8-button video game controls, 250 cable channels, cell phones, and yes, even the Internet.

Agreed. Kudos to picking up on both the interactive AND the immersive side of things. Interactivity is something shiny and new, but immersive means they’ll stick around long after the lure of a new button to push is gone; everyone needs substance.
