A plague upon thee

I know this is impossibly geeky, but there was an unplanned "world" event on
a number of World of Warcraft (WoW) servers last week. Of course, I was out
of town when it happened…

WoW is massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) with over 4
million players worldwide. A recent patch (1.7) added a new dungeon and a
new "boss" to take down — Hakkar the Blood God. Apparently he can "curse"
characters with a disease called "Corrupted Blood" that can also spread to
nearby players.

What Blizzard (makers of WoW) didn’t count on is players leaving the dungeon
and spreading the disease to the major capitals, instantly killing
lower-level characters and even computer-controlled characters.

In effect, many of the servers experienced a virtual "epidemic."  Wild.

Tried to find a movie of it without some annoying backing track, but no
luck.
